Man dies after being found injured on a Nottingham road

Police are investigating after a man died having been found unconscious on the road and entangled with a pedal bike.

The 39-year-old man was found by a car driver in Robins Wood Road, Beechdale, at around 11.15am on Friday 18 June.

He was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre having suffered a head injury and died two days later.

Officers from Nottinghamshire’s roads policing team have spoken to several witnesses and reviewed CCTV.

Sergeant Craig Luckett, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “It’s currently unclear how the man came off his bike so we’re appealing to anyone who might have seen a man riding a bicycle in the Beechdale area at around 11.15am on Friday 18 June.

“From witness accounts it appears the man was wearing shorts and a t-shirt. He was also wearing black trainers, a blue helmet and had a distinctive orange backpack on.

“If anyone has dash-cam footage, please get in touch with us as there’s lots of ways we can use this during our enquiries.

“It’s possible that the victim fell off the bike, had a medical incident, or it could be the result of a collision – we just need to explore all avenues, even if it’s just to rule out whether anyone else was involved.”We are supporting the family involved who are devastated by their loss.

“We will be carrying out a robust investigation to establish what has happened in this incident.”

People with information are asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101 quoting incident 406 of 23 June.
