Police say that they discovered a man perched on a third storey window ledge as they responded to reports that a woman had been assaulted.
Officers were called to an address in Bridegate, Retford, shortly before 8.45pm last night (Friday) after reports of a disturbance.
On arrival they found evidence of an assault and searched the property – eventually finding the man on the window ledge.
A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in police custody.
The victim sustained injuries to her hands and legs.
Detective Sergeant Paul Parish said: “On arrival officers saw clear evidence of an assault and had reason to believe that a suspect was still on the scene. After searching the property their attention was drawn to a window and a suspect was located.”
