Man found with stab wounds in a Nottingham street

Police have arrested a suspect after a man was found with stab wounds.

Officers were quickly on the scene after they were called to the Alfreton Road area in Hyson Green just after 6.40am today Tuesday 26 October 2021.

Excellent proactive police work led to the arrest of a 57-year-old man nearby on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. He remains in custody.

The victim was taken to hospital. His injuries are not currently believed to be life-threatening.

Detective Sergeant Nick Wood, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We will always respond quickly to serious incidents involving weapons and where there is an immediate threat to safety.

“The fact officers were able to arrest a suspect soon after this incident was reported just demonstrates our determination to keep people safe and deal robustly with people who carry weapons on our streets.

“Our investigation is progressing and we would also like to appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and who saw what happened to please get in contact with us. We would also like to hear from anyone who may have captured CCTV, dash-cam or mobile phone footage of the incident as we continue to work hard to understand the circumstances.”
