A man is due to appear in court today in connection with a report of an attempted armed robbery at a bookies.
It comes following a swift response by police to an emergency call from staff who were allegedly threatened at the premises in Alfreton Road, Radford, at around 12.55pm yesterday (Sunday 2 January)
Armed officers were among a large policing presence who responded to the incident and were on the scene within minutes of the call for help. No money was handed over and no one was injured.
A suspect was located nearby and arrested in connection with the incident.
Detective Sergeant Nick Wood, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “People will have seen a large police presence at the incident which reflects how seriously we treat reports of firearms incidents.
“We will always put the safety of the public first and ensure incidents like this are dealt with swiftly and robustly.
“A man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident and there is not believed to be any wider threat to the public.”
Anthony Williams Jr, of no fixed address, was charged with attempted robbery and remanded in custody in connection with the incident and is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court today (Monday 3 January).
