Man in court after boiling water poured over woman in alleged Nottingham assault

A suspect has appeared in court over allegations a woman was headbutted and had boiling water poured on her.

Donald Hayles, aged 50, from Radford, is charged with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in connection with alleged incidents at an address in Radford on 7 October and 16 December.

He is also charged with common assault on an emergency worker and possession of a Class B drug after police officers took part in a proactive anti-violence operation in Nottingham city centre on 17 December.

Hayles appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (23 December 2021). He was remanded in custody and is next set to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 13 January 2022.

Detective Sergeant Robert Palethorpe, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “The force takes all reports of violence seriously and will take robust action against anyone involved in this sort of disorder.”
