Man in court after large amount of jewellery stolen in burglary

A man has appeared in court charged with burglary following two reported break-ins in Mapperley.

Jesse Blacknell, 39, of Chatsworth Drive, Hucknall, is charged with two counts of burglary after incidents in the Spring Lane area on 6 and 27 March 2026.

Police carried out inquiries, including reviewing CCTV footage, after the two burglaries were reported. A suspect was subsequently arrested in Hucknall in connection with the incidents.

Police said a ‘vast amount’ of jewellery was stolen in the incident.

Blacknell appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 7 April 2026. He was remanded on conditional bail and is due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 5 May 2026.

PC David Williams said burglary can have a significant impact on victims and confirmed that investigations into such offences are pursued.
