Detectives investigating a break-in at a student flat in Nottingham have placed a suspect before magistrates.
Officers were called to the property in Upper Parliament Street around 7pm on 3 August 2024 after the victim noticed some of his belongings were missing.
It is believed an intruder gained access and stole a wallet and various electrical items.
The victim was later alerted that his bank card had been used at several nearby shops.
Detectives have been analysing CCTV footage and carrying out door-to-door inquiries in the area.
Thirty-three-year-old Daniel Evans, of Nottingham Road, New Basford, has now been charged with burglary and five counts of fraud by false representation.
He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (22 August) and was remanded in custody until his next appearance at Nottingham Crown Court on 19 September 2024.
Detective Constable Niamh Walker, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Break-ins of this nature can be extremely upsetting for victims so I’m pleased our thorough investigations have led to this charge.
“I would urge students in the city to take every possible precaution to avoid becoming a victim of this sort of crime.”
