A man has appeared in court after a woman was reportedly hit in the head with a hammer.
The woman was discovered injured but conscious after it is reported she was punched, strangled and hit multiple times with the weapon.
A 45-year-old man has been charged following the incident in Norton Street, Radford on 1 March 2022.
The 39-year-old woman was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre after the attack and has since been treated for injuries not thought to be life-threatening or life-altering.
He has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of class B drugs.
He appeared before Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 2 March, where he was remanded in custody.
Upton is next due to appear before Nottingham Crown Court on 30 March 2022.
Detective Constable Ben Grayson, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a violent assault that left a woman in hospital with head injuries that are thankfully not thought to be life-threatening or life-altering.
“We are pleased to have been able to charge a man in connection with this attack and they have now appeared in court and have been remanded in custody.”
