A man is in hospital in a serious condition after being injured in a Nottingham assault.
Police received a report of an assault in Old Market Square, in Nottingham city centre, at 1.40am on Thursday (4 November).
The 36-year-old victim was found with serious head injuries and taken to hospital. His condition is not thought to be life-threatening.
Enquiries quickly led to the arrests of two suspects.
The detained men, both aged 21, were held on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and have been bailed pending further enquires.
Detective Constable Paul Crofts, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a nasty assault and the consequences could easily have been fatal.
“Officers are working hard to understand the circumstances around the incident and the investigation remains at an early stage.
“I would urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information to call 101, quoting incident 32 of 4 November 2021.”
