A man was taken to hospital with multiple injuries to his face after a report of an incident allegedly involving a knife.
Police were called to Derby Road in Beeston at around 10pm last night after a man was seen with a number of facial injuries.
He was taken to hospital for treatment but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-altering.
An investigation was launched to investigate the circumstances and two people were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm later in the evening.
A woman, 38 and a man, 33, remain in custody for questioning.
Detective Sergeant Charlotte Henson, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “While incidents such as this are obviously concerning for residents, we believe that this incident was self-contained and that all parties involved are known to one another.
“While the victim’s injuries are not serious, whenever a knife is used in an incident there is always the potential for far more dangerous consequences.
“We will be thoroughly investigating this case and while it is early days in our enquiries, we are pleased to have made two arrests.
“I would now appeal to anyone who may have seen or heard something suspicious in the area at that time to come forward.
“We are working hard to establish where and when the incident happened, so anything you have could go a long way to helping us find who is responsible.”
