Man jailed after repeated breaches of restraining order in stalking case

A Nottinghamshire man has been jailed for 12 months after admitting stalking a woman and repeatedly breaching court orders banning him from contacting her.

Mason Raynor, 37, of Meadow Close, Edwinstowe, was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday 20 April. He pleaded guilty to stalking involving serious alarm or distress between 15 December 2025 and 16 January 2026.

The court heard Raynor continued to contact the victim despite being subject to a restraining order and a non-molestation order. His contact included handwritten letters, Christmas and birthday cards, as well as phone calls and text messages. One card was sent while he was in custody. The victim had blocked phone numbers but continued to receive unwanted contact.

Raynor also admitted breaching the restraining order, the non-molestation order, and two suspended sentence orders imposed on 20 November 2025 and 7 January 2026.

In addition to the prison sentence, the court imposed a new five-year restraining order prohibiting any contact with the victim.

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Wood, Nottinghamshire Police’s strategic lead for stalking, said the case showed the impact persistent unwanted contact can have on victims and highlighted the seriousness of breaching court orders.
