Man jailed and two others charged in Beeston retail theft investigation

Three people have been arrested and charged with a total of 15 shop theft offences linked to incidents at retailers in and around Beeston.

Charley Wright, 33, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to two counts of shop theft at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 21 January and was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison. The offences related to the theft of bathroom items from Boyes in Beeston on 14 and 17 January.

Tommy Lawrence, 39, of Station Road, Beeston, has been charged with six counts of theft and one count of breaching bail conditions. He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 20 January and pleaded not guilty.

Charlie Pearse, 38, of Stapleford, has been charged with seven counts of shop theft and has been bailed to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 3 February.

The arrests were made by Broxtowe South neighbourhood officers on Monday 19 January as part of enquiries into the offences.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson said retail crime remains a concern for local businesses and officers continue to investigate reported offences.
