Man jailed for assaulting East Midlands Ambulance Service staff member

A man has been sentenced to 12 months in prison after pleading guilty to assaulting an EMAS member of staff.

James Daniel Mark Cawood appeared at Lincoln Magistrates Court on 13 April 2023 where he admitted the offences and was given the suspended sentence, including the following:

  • 12 months suspended for 18 months.
  • To pay compensation to the member of staff.
  • To pay compensation to United Lincolnshire Hospitals for damage to property.

Mark Ward, Accredited Security Management Specialist at EMAS, said:

“We have a zero-tolerance approach to any level of abuse or assault against our staff. Our staff work hard every day to deliver the best possible care to the public we serve. Actions like this make their job even harder and we will always take action where we can.”
