Man knocked down by a Transit van after argument broke out

A man had to be taken to hospital after he was knocked down by a van moments after an argument broke out.

The 51-year-old victim was hit by a white Ford Transit van in Station Road, Mansfield, at around 6pm last night (27 July).

He was taken to hospital and treated for broken ribs and a fractured ankle.

Officers were quickly on the scene and arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm; dangerous driving and drink-driving.

It is thought the van driver got in his vehicle and drove off after an argument broke out. It is unclear whether he deliberately ran over the victim.
