David Lockwood, of Radford, said: “This has left me without any way of getting around and I’m devastated to be honest. The scooter has a lot of sentimental value as I inherited it from a friend who has now passed on.

“I still need to know if I can get it fixed. Hopefully that will be soon.

“The whole incident has left me shaken and I can’t leave my home without it.

“I was on the way to the chemist to collect a prescription, when I was forced to ride on the road as the pavement was blocked with cars and bins.

“I was then knocked off my scooter to the floor. It happened so quickly and it was very scary.

“The car had two men in it and they swore at me. It’s left me in a lot of pain and I went to the Queen’s Medical Centre for treatment. I’ve got a lot of bruising to my knee.

“Hopefully by putting this appeal out, someone may have seen the incident and we can catch the men who did this to me.”

Police Constable Fay Coupland is leading the investigation. She said: “The victim was forced to ride on the road as the pavements were blocked with car and bins.

“Unfortunately he was hit by a vehicle and knocked to the floor, which caused him minor injuries and he is now left without any transport.

“The scooter is also of sentimental value to the victim as it was inherited from his friend who had passed away.

“The car was a silver coloured saloon type vehicle, with left-hand-drive and a foreign licence plate.

“It was reported by the victim that the occupants of the vehicle were foreign men due to their accents. They shouted abuse to the victim and then sped off.

“If you can help with our investigation please do get in contact with us, by calling 101 quoting incident number 264 of 19 May 2020.”
