Nathan Towsey who murdered 18-year-old Matthew Rothery in Mapperley Park on Good Friday has today (Tuesday 7 November 2017) been sentenced to life in prison.
The 21-year-old, of Braunton Crescent in Gedling, was convicted by a jury at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday (3 November) following an 11-day trial.
He’d previously pleaded not guilty to murder and guilty to possession of an offensive weapon.
He received life for murder and will serve a minimum of 22 years. He was also given two years to run concurrently for possessing a knife.
Matthew Rothery suffered a fatal stab wound at his home in Woodborough Road in the early hours of Friday 14 April.
