Man punched to the ground and robbed in Beeston

Two suspects have been arrested after a man was punched to the ground and robbed.

The victim, a man in his 50s, was attacked on Station Road, Beeston, shortly before midnight on Monday, when he was approached from behind.

His bank card was stolen in the attack and was later used unsuccessfully at a cash machine.

A car, believed to be linked to the offence, was later stopped in Derbyshire and two men, aged 34 and 32, were arrested on suspicion of robbery.

They remain in police custody.

The victim sustained facial injuries in the attack and was treated at the scene by paramedics.

Detective Constable Georgie Gallagher, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a distressing incident that left a member of the public with some nasty injuries.

“We are absolutely determined to get justice for him and have been working hard over the last 24 hours to make progress on this investigation.  I am pleased we now have two suspects in custody and would also like to appeal to any additional witnesses to come forward.”
