Man sentenced for engaging in sexual activity with child

A 20-year-old man has been given a three-year community order after admitting two offences of engaging in sexual activity with a 13-year-old girl.

Daniel Cooper, of Birch Street, Church Warsop, committed the offences on the girl on 31 August last year.

Nottingham Crown Court heard that Cooper, who was 19 at the time, was fully aware she was under the age of legal sexual consent.

Cooper pleaded guilty to the offences on 5 December and was sentenced today (Friday 26 January).

He was also ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work, made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention order for ten years, ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for five years and pay £250 court costs. He was also given a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement for 35 hours.
