Police have launched an investigation after a man suffered multiple stab wounds.
Emergency services were called shortly before 9.40pm yesterday (Wednesday) evening after the attack at a bus stop in Mansfield.
The victim, a man in his 40s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
A police cordon is in place at the scene of the attack near the retail park in Jubilee Way South.
Officers have also cordoned off a property in nearby Eckington Walk as part of their investigation.
Detective Inspector Nick Hall, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a very serious assault which has left a man with severe injuries.
“We have been working through the night to investigate what happened and to locate a suspect, who we believe may have been known to the victim.
“We are working to understand the exact sequence of events in the moments leading up to this attack, which we believe happened around 20 minutes before an emergency call was made.
We would like to speak urgently to anybody who may have seen or heard about what happened and would particularly like to hear from two members of the
public who came to the victim’s assistance.”
