Man suffers serious injuries after being repeatedly attacked in his home

Police have charged a 49-year-old after a man was violently attacked in his home.

The victim, a man in his 50s, suffered multiple injuries after he was hit repeatedly with a mop at a shared address in Percy Street, Eastwood, at around 2.30pm on Friday (21 May).

He was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham where he was treated for three fractured ribs, facial injuries and internal bleeding.

His injures are not thought to be life-threatening.

A man from Eastwood, has been charged with grievous bodily harm and appeared at Nottinghamshire Magistrates’ Court this morning (24 May).

He was remanded in custody and will next appear at Nottingham Crown Court on June 21.

Detective Inspector Kim Binns, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Whilst it was a really serious assault, it was a self-contained incident inside a house and the two people are known to each other so there is no wider threat to the community.

“Nottinghamshire Police treats incidents of violence, particularly with weapons, extremely seriously and our officers will always doggedly seek to bring suspects before the courts.”
