Man taken to hospital after fight in a Beeston street

Police have made an arrest after a man was beaten to the floor, kicked in the head and stamped on in a fight.

An argument initially broke out in Wollaton Road, Beeston, between a group of men who knew each other. After the argument, the man left but was reportedly followed on to Cross Street, where he is believed to have been attacked again.

Members of the public came to help the man and officers were called to the incident just after 7.15pm yesterday (Monday 26 April 2021).

The man was taken to hospital but his injuries aren’t thought to be life-threatening or altering.

A 50-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and he remains in custody.

A scene is currently in place while officers continue their enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Julian Eminson-Ferry, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “A man has been left hospitalised after this incident after being subject to some nasty injuries.”Officers responded quickly and by 7.30pm a man had been detained.

“We believe that the people involved are known to each other and would reassure people that there is no wider risk to the public. However, we understand the concern this type of incident can cause and our officers remain on scene to conduct enquiries and offer reassurance.

“We would encourage anyone with concerns or information to get in touch, by speaking to an officer on patrol or calling 101.”
