Police have arrested two people after a man was stabbed following an argument.
The man was taken to hospital with an injury to his lower back, which is not life-threatening or life-altering.
Officers were quickly on the scene and arrested two people – a 19-year-old-man and a 17-year-old girl – a short time after the incident in the Old Market Square, Nottingham city centre, at around 8.55pm today (Monday 28 March).
They remain in custody and are being questioned in connection with the incident, as officers also speak to witnesses and view CCTV footage in the area.
Inspector Andy Wilson, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Thanks to the swift actions of officers on the scene, two people have been arrested within a short time of the offence taking place.
“We are working to understand the circumstances and are appealing for any witnesses, or anyone who may have video footage to come forward.
“Knife crime is completely unacceptable to residents of Nottinghamshire and we stand right by them as we continue to support programmes of education and awareness to prevent knife crime, and where that fails we will have no hesitation in acting robustly to enforce against the small minority of people who use knives.”
Anyone with information or footage that could help the enquiry is urged to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 814 of 28 March 2022.
