Man threw brick through patrol car windscreen at police station car park

A man who threw a brick at a police car windscreen has been jailed.

Sean Barnett, aged 38, targeted the vehicle in the car park of Beeston Police Station while still serving a suspended prison sentence.

Barnett was spotted sitting on the car by officers on the night of 26 August this year before casually informing them what he had done.

He later pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage and appeared on Tuesday at Nottingham Crown Court, where he was jailed for 16 months.

PC Joshua Dowdy, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“This was a senseless attack on a valuable public resource, which was then unavailable for further deployment.

“Police cars are potentially life-saving machines that get our officers to where they are needed.

“Losing just one of those in a shift could potentially have very serious consequences so I am pleased Barnett has now been jailed.”
