The victim was walking through the Exchange Arcade, towards Primark, at about 11am on 22 August 2018 when Peach approached her from behind and grabbed her shopping bag, stealing her purse from within which contained a quantity of cash.

She fell to the floor during the incident, landing on her hands and knees, before members of the public came to her aid.

Speaking after Peach’s sentencing Detective Constable James Primrose said: “Thankfully the victim wasn’t seriously hurt but she was left very shaken by what happened.

“Peach targeted her with no thought to the upset and harm he may cause her. I hope that now he’s behind bars for some time it will bring her some comfort and she’ll be able to move on from this distressing incident.”
