A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Nottingham man who absconded from court shortly before being sentenced to 12 weeks in prison for stealing four bicycles.
Magistrates were told that two of the thefts took place on Central Avenue in West Bridgford in December.

Kyle Meli, 23, of Harwill Crescent, Aspley admitted theft of four bikes, having cannabis and refusing to give a blood test when suspected of driving.

Although he had left the courthouse before sentence, the 12-week prison term was still imposed.

Nottingham magistrates then issued a warrant for his arrest.

His solicitor James Buckley said they were not sophisticated offences using vehicles to remove the stolen bicycles.

A criminal behaviour order was imposed on Meli, which bars him from the campus of the University of Nottingham, from where one bike was taken.

The other was stolen from outside the Queen’s Medical Centre.
