Police arrested a man following reports he had abused taxi drivers – and then found 10 bags of cocaine in his jeans pocket.
Officers were flagged down at 2.15 am this morning (Friday 4 August) after a shirtless man allegedly abused several drivers parked up in Milton Street, in Nottingham city centre.
The 22-year-old suspect was detained and taken into custody, where the drugs were discovered.
He remains in custody and is being questioned on suspicion of racially aggravated public disorder and possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
PC Nick Lewis, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“We take offences like this extremely seriously. There is no place in our society for racial abuse. It is a crime and we would always encourage victims to come forward and tell us about it.
“Drug-related crime is also a blight on our communities, and we will continue with our efforts to disrupt the supply of illegal substances.”
