The incident took place on 6 July at Treswell in Bassetlaw.
Detective Inspector Luke Todd from Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Surrounding houses were evacuated as a precaution and Cocking Lane and surrounding roads were closed while the incident was dealt with.
A woman was rescued from the property and no injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
“While in attendance at the scene an officer found a man’s body in an outbuilding.
“At this time his death is not being treated as suspicious.
“Formal identification will be carried out in due course and a file prepared for the coroner.”
“Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones, who are being supported by specialist officers.
“Roads reopened last night and a cordon is still in place while an investigation progresses into the cause of the fire.”
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue said:
“Emergency Service personnel are working extremely hard on scene and have been doing so since just after 11am yesterday morning.
“Thank you to our fire crews who have been dealing with this incident, as well as our neighbouring fire services and partner agencies.”
