Marley Gascoine Murder: Police make second arrest as investigation continues

Officers have arrested a second man on suspicion of murder following the fatal stabbing of Marley Gascoine in St Ann’s.

A team of highly skilled detectives are working to ensure those responsible are caught and Marley’s family receive the justice they deserve.

The incident happened on Abbotsford Drive in St Ann’s at around 12.50pm on Monday 10 November after a man was found seriously injured.

Marley Gascoine, from Nottingham, was treated by paramedics at the scene but despite their best efforts he died a short time later.

A murder investigation was launched and a 20-year-old man, from Nottingham, was arrested on suspicion of murder on Tuesday November 11.

He remains in police custody after officers were granted more time to question him.

On Wednesday 12 November, a second man, aged 20, from Nottingham, was also arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

Marley’s mother delivered a heartfelt statement thanking everyone for their condolences at what she described as an “excruciating” and “difficult” time.

Marley was her first born and she described the family pain as “indescribable” with a “piece of her heart” now forever missing.

The family will continue to be supported by specially trained officers.

Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow, who is leading the investigation, said:

“Marley’s family are going through every parent’s worst nightmare, and our thoughts continue to be with them as we work to ensure those responsible face justice.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank members of the public who have come forward and provided us with vital information to support our investigation.

“We know that St Ann’s is a tightknit community, and we know the impact this vicious and violent crime has had on its residents. 

“While we have arrested two men on suspicion of murder, our investigation continues at speed to build a better picture of the events leading up to that day and what happened that day.

“At the heart of this investigation is a family that are going through the most unimaginable pain who need answers. You may have the information that can help them, and help us further our investigation.”
