Matt Baker to relaunch Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust’s series of events

BAFTA & RTS award-winning presenter Matt Baker MBE will be in Nottingham on Thursday 9 November to relaunch Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust’s popular series of ‘An evening with’ events at Nottingham’s Albert Hall.

Matt, fresh from commentary duties at the Gymnastics World Championships over the weekend, will be drawing on his wealth of experience both on and off the screen to talk all things nature and countryside.

A much-loved face on British TV, Matt has become hugely popular in presenting shows such as BBC1’s The One Show, Blue Peter and Countryfile, raising awareness about how the power and beauty of the countryside can be an inspiration and source of joy for us all.

His book – A Year on Our farm: How the Countryside Made Me – is a Sunday Times bestseller which, alongside his own productions for C4 – Our Farm in The Dales, follows Matt’s life on his beloved family farm as he celebrates the natural year. His most recent production, Travels in the Country USA, screened on More4 earlier this year (2023).

Matt was awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours List 2022 for charitable and voluntary services to fundraising; most notably as a Trustee of BBC Children In Need and his now legendary 12 consecutive years of Rickshaw Challenge rides.

Away from the bright lights of hosting our favourite television programmes, he is often in the company of his family, dogs, an array of sheep, Mediterranean miniature donkeys and a whole host of wildlife in the farm’s ancient woodland.

Speaking about the return of the lecture series and the visit of Matt Baker, Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust Chief Executive Paul Wilkinson said:

“We’re delighted to get these wonderful events back up and running. Audiences have enjoyed the opportunity to hear from popular and inspirational figures and we’re so pleased that Matt has agreed to come to Nottingham to get us back up and running.

“As well as being hugely enjoyable and entertaining, the special evenings at The Albert Hall help generate vital income to support our county-wide conservation work. So, whether you’re a fan of Matt’s work on Countryfile, Blue Peter or Our Farm in the Dales, it looks set to be a wonderful event.”

An Evening with Matt Baker includes his talk, Q&A session and a chance to learn more about how you can take action for nature with Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust. Premium bundles include priority seating, a copy of Matt’s latest book and exclusive access to a meet and greet and book signing with Matt himself.

All profits from this event go towards Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust’s work to protect and campaign for wildlife across the county.
