The Mayor of Rushcliffe has officially opened a show home at a new housing development in Cotgrave.
Councillor Richard Butler attended the opening at the Hayes View development on Colston Gate alongside Rushcliffe Borough Council leader Councillor Neil Clarke and Cotgrave Town Council chairman Councillor Leo Healy.
Developer Allison Homes East Midlands is building 45 three and four-bedroom homes at the site.
The councillors met members of the development team and viewed the four-bedroom show home before Councillor Butler cut a ribbon to mark its opening.
Hayes View has been named in memory of Ernest Hayes, a decorated First World War soldier from Cotgrave.
Corporal Hayes served with the King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry and was awarded the Military Medal three times for gallantry on the Western Front in 1918.
Councillor Butler said: “It was very interesting to see the show home and the preparations for the rest of the new homes at Hayes View.
“It is quite a journey from seeing and discussing drawings and plans to seeing the finished buildings, and it is very thoughtful to name the development in memory of Ernest Hayes.
“I look forward to welcoming new residents to the Cotgrave and wider Rushcliffe communities.”
Karl Edwards, managing director at Allison Homes East Midlands, said the development would provide energy-efficient homes while recognising an important figure from Cotgrave’s history.
