Police tracked down and arrested a suspect shortly after a member of the public was reported to have been threatened with a knife.
Officers were called to Clumber Street, in Nottingham City Centre, at around 5am this morning (Saturday).
A suspect was stopped and searched soon afterwards, and a knife was recovered.
A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of threatening a person with a knife in a public place.
He remains in police custody.
Sergeant James Hirst, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We were very quick to respond to this reported indecent and soon had a suspect in custody.
“Tackling knife crime and removing potentially lethal weapons from our streets are key priorities for Nottinghamshire Police.
“Investigations into this incident are ongoing so I would aske anyone with additional information about what happened to call us on 101 quoting incident 153 of 29 January.”
