A motorcyclist who crashed and injured himself after fleeing from police has been jailed.
Aiden Galloway, aged 32, was spotted riding the red moped on Aspley Lane on 16 September 2023.
The motorcycle, which had recently failed to stop for officers, was driven away at speed, and a pursuit was authorised.
It then passed through a red light at the busy junction with Western Boulevard before weaving dangerously to overtake several vehicles.
Galloway continued along Lincoln Street towards Basford, before turning into David Lane and out of sight of officers.
He was found injured in an alleyway a short time later and required a stay in hospital.
He later made a full and frank admission to officers and pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, and possessing cannabis.
Appearing at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday (4 November), Galloway, of Nottingham, was jailed for ten months.
Sergeant Leanne George, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Galloway placed himself and other road users in jeopardy as he rode his bike in an extremely reckless and dangerous manner.
“As a disqualified driver, he was understandably keen to get away, but in doing so took a series of unacceptable risks that first landed him in hospital, and then in prison.
“I hope, therefore, that this case serves as a warning to others about the potential consequences of this kind of riding.”
