Moped rider seriously injured after falling during police pursuit

Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious collision in David Lane just after 1.30 p.m. yesterday afternoon, between the tram line and the New Generation Church.

A red moped which had failed to stop for police was travelling in the direction of an alleyway on David Lane next to the tram stop when the rider fell from the vehicle.

The rider, a 31-year-old man, was seriously injured and taken to hospital.

The barriers at the tram line were down at the time of the collision and a tram was also parked at the tram stop.

Officers investigating want to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage.
