Pictures from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service show appliances on the way to, and at the scene.
NFRS have released more images of the blaze that took hold of an industrial premises in Lenton Lane yesterday afternoon.
Updates from the fire service:
Crews worked hard throughout the night to get the fire under control. We now have three appliances and one ALP at the scene of the incident.
Although the fire is under control, a small amount of smoke continues to blow in the direction of the A52. We ask that people keep their windows and doors shut, especially if you’re driving through the area.
Abbeyfield Road is now open, however, due to the scale of the incident we are using pavements for some firefighting equipment. If you are a pedestrian or cyclist in the area please be aware of this.
There have been reports of asbestos in the area as a result of the fire. Please avoid the area where possible. If you have any ash in your garden or around your property, please contact your local authority.
Thank you again to our communities for being patient with us during the incident.
Update: 15:40:
Due to the scale of this incident and smoke plume the A52 North and South from Clifton Bridge to Dunkirk will be closed. We’ll be working with our partners at Highways England and Nottinghamshire Police.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we deal with the fire.
Original release: 31 January, 14:49:
We currently have 12 appliances in attendance at a recycling fire in the Lenton area. Smoke can be seen from a distance away so we urge local residents, or anyone who can see or smell smoke, to keep doors and windows shut. Abbeyfield Road is currently closed. Please avoid the area where possible.
