The incident was reported by police on 26 May 2022.
Police say the motorist ‘was drunk’ after being called to the incident on the A52 eastbound.
Officers said that ‘remarkably’ the driver managed to get out of the wrecked vehicle and run to a nearby fuel station.
Derbyshire Police said:
‘A52 Eastbound.

‘Recovery of a vehicle involved in an earlier collision.
‘Complete wreck but remarkably the driver managed to run away to a local petrol station.
‘Would it surprise you to learn he was very drunk?’
