MP goes out on patrol with Nottinghamshire Police

Gedling MP Vernon Coaker visited the local neighbourhood policing team at Jubilee House in Arnold as part of a national ‘give a day to policing’ scheme on 29 August 2019.

Mr Coaker spent time with the local Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Chris Pearson discussing local issues, before going out on patrol in the Gedling Borough with Police Sergeant Helen Walker and PCSO Kirsty Szeluk.

Inspector Chris Pearson said: “It was great to welcome Mr Coaker so that he could experience what officers in the area deal with each day.

“We hope he enjoyed the visit and like last year, we tried to give him a real sense of what local policing in Gedling looks like.

“Every day the local response and neighbourhood officers deal with diverse issues including dealing with many immediate incidents where life is at risk and problem solving longer term issues in partnership with other agencies in the area.

Mr Coaker said: “I’d like to thank the Gedling policing team for their hospitality and for giving me so much insight. It was a really productive few hours and was hugely informative.

“I was given the chance to ask plenty of questions and I’d like to thank the officers for their honesty and insight on a whole range of policing issues. Their friendly professionalism was a real credit to Nottinghamshire Police.”
