Detectives have launched a murder investigation following an incident at the Castle Retail Park in Radford last night (Wednesday 19 February 2020).
Nottinghamshire Police were called at 7.10pm to a report that a 17-year-old male had sustained stab wounds.
Police and ambulance crews were quickly on the scene to provide medical treatment to the male, who was pronounced dead a short time later.
His family have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained police family liaison officers.
Formal identification has not yet taken place.
No arrests have been made in connection with the incident so far.
Detective Chief Inspector Sally Blaiklock, who is leading the investigation, said: “We have launched a murder investigation and, although our enquiries remain at an early stage, I can assure the public that uniformed officers, detectives and forensic teams are all working tirelessly to understand the circumstances surrounding this very serious case.
“While we believe this was an isolated incident and there is no further risk to the wider public, we understand the level of concern that incidents of this nature cause our communities. That is why we’re letting the public know to expect to see a large number of uniformed officers in the Castle Retail Park area offering some reassurance following this incident.
“My thoughts are with the family of the victim who are now facing the devastating reality of coming to terms with the fact that their loved one has lost his life.
