The new 3A service will operate hourly on Monday to Saturday daytimes, providing a direct link to the city centre and Clifton centre.
The 3A replaces the existing CT4N services 2, 22 and 23 that currently serve Silverdale and Wilford Village, which will finish on Friday 16th September 2022.
Anthony Carver-Smith, NCT Head of Marketing said: “Our new 3A service provides an improved, six days a week service for the residents of Silverdale and Wilford Village, maintaining their important daytime links to the City Centre and Clifton”.
Barry Allitt, CT4N Operations Director, explained:
“CT4N stepped in to save these services back in 2019, however the effects of the covid pandemic and rising operating costs including fuel and salaries have now made these services commercially unviable for us to continue operating.
“I’m pleased to advise that Nottingham City Transport will be making changes to their number 3 service from Monday 19th September to maintain links to Wilford Village and Silverdale”
The 3A will be partially funded by Nottingham City Council on a trial basis.
Nottingham City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Highways and Transport, Cllr Audra Wynter, said:
“Following a difficult few years for the bus network through the pandemic, we were pleased to work with Nottingham City Transport to secure a replacement bus service for Silverdale and Wilford Village.
“Service 3A will operate hourly between 8.30am and 3.30pm and will continue to provide an important link between these areas and the City, Trent Bridge and Clifton.”
Concessionary passes and all NCT’s standard tickets and passes will be valid on the 3A service.
From the same date, NCT’s 3 will have a revised timetable between approx. 09:30 and 15:30 on Mondays to Saturdays, where buses will operate hourly via Ruddington to Clifton. The peak-time service will continue unchanged with buses up generally every 30 minutes.
