Nottingham City Transport is participating in the extended £2 fare cap scheme until the end of 2023, following the government’s announcement of more funding.
Originally planned to increase to £2.50 from 1st November 2023, the maximum single fare will remain at £2 until 31st December 2023.
The Government says that the cap had been due to rise to £2.50 but will instead remain at £2 and continue until 31 December 2024 because of HS2 funding diverted to the new Network North plan.
Participation beyond 1st January 2024 will be dependent on the negotiations and discussions between bus operators and the Department for Transport on the reimbursement rate and an announcement on NCT’s involvement in 2024 will be confirmed when those discussions are complete.
