NET Trams statement on face coverings which become mandatory today

Nottingham Express Transit release a statement on face coverings on trams.

A spokesperson said:

‘Throughout the pandemic we have followed all government Covid guidance and continue to do so.

‘In line with the reintroduction of rules on wearing face coverings on all public transport, we urge all customers who aren’t exempt to comply with this requirement and help to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus variant.’

When travelling on NCT buses and visiting our Travel Centre, you will be required to wear a face covering at all times.

There are some circumstances where people may not be able to wear a face covering and the reasons for this may not be visible to others. Please be mindful and respectful of people who are not wearing a face covering, which includes:

  • people who cannot put on, wear or remove a face covering because of a physical or mental illness or impairment, or disability
  • people for whom putting on, wearing or removing a face covering will cause severe distress
  • people speaking to or providing assistance to someone who relies on lip reading, clear sound or facial expressions to communicate
  • people avoiding the risk of harm or injury to themselves or others

Please continue to keep windows open on board the bus to maximise air flow and ventilation and use the on board hand sanitiser when getting on and off the bus.

The police are responsible for enforcing the requirement to wear a face covering, which can result in a fine.

Thank you for your continued support and for doing your bit to keep our employees, other passengers and yourself safe.
