New Christmas event to bring music, food and Santa’s grotto to Nottingham Castle for £2

A new Christmas event featuring live music, carol singing, food and drink and a Santa’s grotto will take place in the grounds of Nottingham Castle this December.

Christmas at the Castle will run on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 December, from 5pm to 9pm each evening. Tickets cost £2 per person.

The programme includes live music and traditional carol singing at the bandstand, visits to Father Christmas in Santa’s Grotto and walkabout performers throughout the grounds.

The Indie Brewers of Nottingham will offer locally brewed cask ales and craft beers to drink at the event or take home for Christmas. The selection will include festive beers, alongside mulled wine, mulled cider and brewery gifts.

Local traders and caterers will also serve Christmas-themed street food and sweet treats.

Nottingham City Council has commissioned the event as part of its annual programme of free and low-cost events.

It is funded through the council’s £25 million additional investment package, announced earlier this year to improve frontline services, support families and boost pride in Nottingham.

Councillor David Mellen, Executive Member for Leisure, Culture and Tourism at Nottingham City Council, said: “Christmas at the Castle will be a fantastic addition to Nottingham’s festive programme, bringing together live music, local food and drink, family entertainment and the magic of Christmas in one of the city’s most iconic locations.

“By keeping tickets at just £2, we’re making sure as many people as possible can enjoy an unforgettable seasonal experience and create special memories with family and friends.”

Tickets are on sale now and can be booked through the Nottingham Castle website.
