A Nottingham-based community transport operator will be looking to seek out fresh commercial opportunities to support its charitable activities with the appointment of a hugely experienced transport executive.
Nigel Eggleton has joined CT4N as Commercial Director and aims to help the operator boost areas of the organisation that are raising revenue to maintain a host of valuable community services.
During a distinguished 40-year career in the transport industry, Nigel most recently served as Managing Director of the First Bus operation in South Yorkshire and the Midlands.
He has taken on the role at what he acknowledges is a challenging time for the sector, with most operators impacted by driver shortages, rising costs and changing travel patterns following the Covid pandemic.
“My role at CT4N is to look closely at a business we should already be proud of, using my years of experience to ensure its continued health by assessing what we do well, what needs attention and what we can do better,” Nigel said.
One thing that will not change is the commercial operation’s support of CT4N Charitable Trust and its mission to help build communities and reduce social isolation by providing transport services which are accessible, affordable and sustainable.
Its buses provide stress-free, not-for-profit transport dedicated to helping some of the most vulnerable local people – including older residents and those with sensory and mobility impairment – connecting them to where they want to go.
Nigel, who is also the national chair of the Omnibus Society and president of the Leicester Transport Historic Trust, continued:
“You’re never too old to learn and over the next few weeks, I’ll be travelling across our patch to meet the staff who take such good care of our passengers.
“The key to success is the strength and skill of the team – and that means everyone, regardless of role or position.”
Ian Combellack, CT4N Managing Director, added: “We are delighted to welcome Nigel to our team and his broad experience will help us to refine our operations to best meet the needs of the communities we serve.”
