New officer joins The Bill in Nottinghamshire after being rescued

The swan was rescued from the A617 in Sutton in Ashfield.

Police said:

‘Our officers have been at it again – just call us the swan whisperers.
The Ashfield neighbourhood policing team flew into action after receiving reports of a “two-foot tall, long, slender neck, kind of orange and black bill,” creature causing mayhem and running around on the A617, in Sutton-in-Ashfield, yesterday.

‘With traffic backing up, there was no flapping around from our NPT officers who carefully picked it up.

‘Switching out our usual suspects for a slightly quieter one the animal hitched a ride home

‘Staying nice and toasty in our PC’s jacket we returned it back to Kingsmill reservoir – not sure our custody team would have appreciated a swan interrogation.

‘Don’t worry though the swan didn’t stay locked up for long even though it did look very sorry for itself.’
