Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service and Nottinghamshire Police are launching an investigation.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said:
‘Our firefighters have been working since yesterday evening ( Friday ) to tackle a large haystack fire involving around 1,200 bales of hay in a field near Saxondale Island.
‘One fire engine remains on scene and crews are expected to be there for some time as they continue to monitor and extinguish the fire safely.
‘A huge thank you to our Control Room colleagues, who handled more than 100 calls relating to this incident overnight.
‘Nottinghamshire Police are appealing for anyone with information that could assist their investigation to come forward. If you have any information, please call 101 and quote incident reference 0716_24072026.’
