Plans for a new restaurant with a takeaway in Hyson Green have been given the green light.
The property in Gregory Boulevard, between Birkin Avenue and Harwarden Terrace, is currently used as flats.
Mohammad Ayube has been given permission to convert the one-bedroom flats on the ground and first floors into a restaurant with a takeaway.
It will also feature a single-storey front extension and a two storey extension at the back.
Planning permission was originally granted for the conversion of the ground floor of the property to a restaurant with takeaway in May this year, however the applicant has since changed the plans.
“The current application is effectively a resubmission of planning permission but includes the expansion of the restaurant use to the first floor of the property,” planning documents say.
Eleven neighbours were notified of the plans and there were no objections.
The city council says the conversion from flats is acceptable, owing to the property only consisting of one bedroom flats which are not suited to families.
“Whilst the existing property is in residential use, it has been subdivided into one bed flats,” documents add.

“These are not suited to family occupation and their loss would not be conflict with [policy].
“As the principle of the restaurant and takeaway use within the building has already been established by the previous permission, it is felt that the expansion of this to the upper floor is acceptable in principle, subject to an assessment of the issues identified.”
Mr Ayube must now demonstrate the development would not have an impact on the neighbouring homes, which is one of the identified issues, and the council has advised sound insulation is installed to avoid any future complaints.
The extension to the property must also use matching materials.
