West Bridgford RFC are delighted to announce two mid season signings to bolster their pack moving in to the business end of the season. Prop Owen Howells and back row Liam Annable join from Welsh Premiership outfit Llandovery RFC and local rivals Nottingham Casuals RFC respectively.
Owen, originally from Llanelli, South Wales has moved to the area due to work commitments. The mobile and strong scrummaging prop has 2 Welsh students’ caps and 5 appearances for Welsh Academicals. He has played for Llandovery RFC, Tycroes RFC and Aberystwyth University RFC, where he was 1st XV captain.
Liam, is an abrasive ball carrying back row, who has often been a tough opponent for his new club. As well as Casuals RFC, Liam has played for Mansfield RFC and Paviors RFC. He will be an extremely useful addition to the West Bridgford pack.
Head Coach, Gareth Kerr commented “We are delighted to welcome both Owen and Liam. It’s brilliant for the club that we are now able to attract players of this calibre, and a testament to the position our players have put the club in. Owen has played a great level of rugby back home and has looked extremely sharp in training so far, whilst Liam has had a run out in our 2s and 3s, and we’ve been getting great reports.
Both players came to watch a 1st team game before deciding to head along to training. They got to see what we are about both on the field and in the club afterwards, courtesy of our highly active social committee, and they both liked what they saw. The culture and atmosphere that the players have created at the club, as well as the style and level of rugby they are playing is now making West Bridgford RFC a really attractive place to come and play rugby.
