New Toucan Crossing proposed for Melton Road Edwalton


Nottinghamshire County Council proposes to install a “Toucan” pedestrian crossing on Melton Rd 18 metres south of its junction with Village St Edwalton.

A public consultation opens on 10 Oct 2019 and closes on 7 Nov 2019

The council says in its document:

‘The crossing will incorporate a controlled area indicated by zig-zag markings along the carriageway where parking and loading will be prohibited.

The extents of the controlled area will be:

Melton Rd

From a point approximately 10m north of the junction of Melton Rd and Village St for a distance of approximately 49m in a southerly direction.

The Toucan crossing will provide a safe crossing facility across Melton Rd for pedestrians and cyclists.

Installation of Toucan Crossing: A606 Melton Rd / Village St, Edwalton

Via East Midlands Ltd in partnership with Nottinghamshire County Council is proposing to install a Toucan Crossing on Melton Rd, near its junction with Village St. The new crossing will provide a safer crossing for pedestrians and cyclists over this busy road.

The Toucan Crossing will incorporate a controlled area indicated by zig-zag markings along the approaches to the crossing within which parking and loading by vehicles will be prohibited at all times.
