Yodance is a new class using a combination of yoga, brain-gym and dance which has been helping West Bridgford residents improve their health and wellbeing.
Founder, Katy Crosby told us that she hopes the exercise activity in her classes gives people renewed energy as she designed Yodance to be energising rather than exhausting by using a mixture of music, movement and mindfulness.
Yodance is accessible to everyone, any age or ability can join in. It’s about taking part and having fun rather than doing it right, you don’t need any yoga or dance experience.
Liz from Trevor Road who attends the Friday evening class every week says “I love Friday evenings and feel so happy after every Yo session”, Marie from South Road says “Thank you for helping me find my inner child and for helping me find my Y”, Tam from Bramcote Road says “Love all the props –despite thinking I wouldn’t!”, and Lisa from Mountsorrel Drive says “At the end of the week when I am drained I am filled with energy”.
There are many personal health and wellbeing benefits to Yodancing such as learning breathing and relaxation techniques, improved flexibility, co-ordination and balance.

Katy, who grew up in West Bridgford, returned home after teaching in London and Canada. She developed Yodance while recovering from a period in hospital. Using her 20 years experience as a PE teacher, personal trainer, yoga, dance and aerobics teacher she has designed the varied class with simple self-management tools for health and wellbeing to create a therapeutic uplifting experience in a fun, supportive and safe environment.
A growing number of people have been benefiting from the new Yodance classes now available in West Bridgford. The classes on Thursdays and Fridays are seeing more and more local residents enjoy this new approach to exercise, so more classes and locations are being launched this September.
New classes will be launching from 3rdSeptember on Monday mornings and Tuesday evenings at the Lutterall Hall, West Bridgford, NG2 6AY and Friday and Saturday mornings at Holy Spirit Church Hall, Victoria Road, NG2 7NT.
