Newark Fire – Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service crews worked through the night to damp down the industrial fire in Newark.
Plumes of smoke from the fire in Northgate, Newark on Trent could be seen for miles.
Residents were warned to keep their doors and windows closed and avoid the area.
The fire service sent eight crews to the scene including a command unit and welfare unit.
A spokesperson said on the evening of Saturday 11 November:
‘We are now scaling down this incident, with two fire engines remaining on scene until 10pm.
‘At it’s height, around 200 tonnes of recycled plastic was on fire.
‘We’ll be working with our partners to determine a cause in daylight hours.
