Newark fire: Environment Agency on scene to protect River Trent

The Environment Agency are working with Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue at the scene of a major blaze in Newark.

A spokesperson said:

‘Our officers are on the site of a major fire at Briggs Metals in Newark, Nottinghamshire working with nottsfire and other partners to assess and minimise the impacts of the fire on the environment.’

‘Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service and the Environment Agency have a full range of pollution control equipment for managing contaminated water runoff and protecting the River Trent’
